Chama-Fluß Schlange
Ein wenig erforschtes Gebiet ist die Umgebung des Flussbeckens des Chama (intramontane Region) in der Nähe der Stadt Mérida im Bundesstaat Mérida, Venezuela. Im Dickicht des noch intakten montanen Laubwaldes der Anden in der Nähe der Stadt Jají wurde eine Schlange gefunden, die sich durch eine schwarze Rückenzeichnung und einen stark mit cremefarbenen Flecken übersäten Bauch auszeichnet.

Chama river snake
An area that has been little explored is the environment adjacent to the Chama River basin (intramontane region), near the city of Mérida, Mérida state, Venezuela. Among the thicket of the still intact Andean montane semideciduous forest, near the town of Jají, a snake was found that is distinguished by its black dorsal pattern and belly heavily spotted with cream spaces. An idea that is being evaluated in the biogeographic and evolutionary context refers to how the topographic complexity of the mountains and niche conservatism have encouraged speciation, that is, the formation of new species.
